EMBARQ Turkey presented at the Turkey Transport Infrastructure Conference, held on November 28-30 in Istanbul. The International Quality and Productivity Centre (IQPC) Middle East organized the event.

This was a high-profile event for representatives from the transport infrastructure, city planning, logistics, sustainable transport and transportation technology sectors to discuss the 2023 transportation infrastructure targets for Turkey. It was also an opportunity to visualize their potential role in newly launched projects and to contribute towards the Turkey Transportation Master Plan to be consolidated in the near future.

Officials from various governmental bodies like the Ministry of Transportation and Municipalities attended the conference. Various Metropolitan Municipalities showcased their successful ongoing and completed projects, and other experts discussed future collaborations with the private sector and universities.

EMBARQ Turkey Senior Advisor Sibel Bulay presented the “Cities for People” approach, considering road safety, social justice and quality of life standards in city transport planning.

EMBARQ Turkey Transport Engineer Şefik Elbeyli presented cycling projects in a post-conference workshop. EMBARQ Turkey was the only NGO that presented at the conference. Although the event mostly focused on the transportation infrastructure of Turkey in line with the government's 2023 targets, EMBARQ Turkey re-shaped the agenda of the conference by adding sustainable transport and cycling.

EMBARQ Turkey has been dealing with the event organizers since last August and acted as an advisor for the event.

“As part of EMBARQ Turkey’s influencing strategy we had the opportunity to influence policymakers around key aspects of sustainable transport,” Bulay said.
