EMBARQ Türkiye emphasized that sustainable transport policies and projects should take a “cities for people” approach at the 9th Sustainable Transport Congress organized by the Turkish Architects and Engineers Chamber (TMMOB) on May 16-18 in Istanbul at Yıldız University. Conference participants included city officials and academics from diverse fields, including sociology, physiology and the environment. The event valued out-of-the-box thinking and non-engineering perspectives to reflect all the multi-dimensional facets of sustainable transport.

EMBARQ Türkiye Transport Engineer Burhan Kocaman presented on “Cycling-Inclusive Transport Planning and Capacity Development of Local Administrations." EMBARQ Türkiye's paper was accepted by the science and consultation committee in December 2010, resulting in an invitation for EMBARQ Türkiye to present its cycling projects at the congress. The entire congress included 10 sessions and one field trip in Istanbul.
