The Context

Jaipur is the capital city of Rajasthan state in northwest India. The Pink City, as it known today, has the distinction of being the first planned city in India.

Due to the city’s explosive growth over the past 20 years, the City Development Plan was created in 2006 with the hope of creating a sustainable city focused on four key principles: Liveability, Competitiveness, Bankability, and Manageability. Within the plan, the need for improved public transportation is addressed with the goal of creating an efficient mass rapid transit system within the following seven years.

EMBARQ is advising Jaipur City Transport Services Ltd. (JCTSL) to improve bus operations for the newly procured buses from the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JnNURM), a massive city modernisation scheme launched by the Government of India.
